Growing up, Jenna knew that she loved to bring joy to others by using her creativity. Today, she is an enthusiast of fine paper, letterpress, vibrant colours, and everything vintage. She lives in London, Ontario, Canada with her husband Ross and their two cats, Brody and Scooter. She is a registered nurse in an emergency department and otherwise can most often be found in her kitchen baking up some treats as a personal study of French pastry. After planning their wedding, she is inspired to pursue her love for letterpress and the design of fine correspondence.

Ross and I wanted to infuse our love into every element of our day. Our main goal was to let our passion for each other radiate into our decor, location, and ceremony so that each guest could really feel the love. We agreed that we would take on the adventure ourselves to create a wedding that was original, romantically inspired, vibrant yet vintage and very cheerful.

I was inspired by a peach blossom bottle of perfume that I bought while we were traveling in France. With our natural landscape in mind we thought about the nature of honey bees. They work together to create something sweet and are actually quite a rarity these days. Well, also secretly because the queen bee rules (right, ladies?), but don’t tell my husband that!

With my enthusiasm and appreciation for paper, I scoured Etsy to find ways to incorporate that natural element into our day. I came across seller Rule42. The pinwheels embodied the playful nature of our relationship and the originality of our day perfectly. The seller and I worked closely together to find the perfect paper selection to match our scheme.

After deciding on our location, Emerald Lake Lodge in Field, British Columbia, we searched to find elements that would add charm and sparkle without taking away from the glorious landscape. We decided that a vintage bicycle on our invitations would be a perfect way to let our guests know that we were having a destination wedding with vintage flair. Whimsy was perfectly executed in the custom wording, font, and colour selection with our invitations by seller One Reverie. I then tied it all together with yellow and white Divine Twine by Whisker Graphics and wrapped the whole treat in a doily to honour the lace in my dress. The envelopes were sealed with a yellow mix of Japanese Masking Tape from LemonTree and were return addressed with a stamp by Letter Girl. 

Our ceremony took place lakeside; the path was lined with small pinwheels in the garden and pretty mini poms by Pom Love were attached to some of the clear ghost chairs facing Mount Burgess. Vintage handkerchiefs were handed out to each guest for their tears of joy. The mother of the bride and mother of the groom were each given embroidered monogrammed hankies to cherish by seller Linen Whites.

With large playful yellow and peach pinwheels in hand, the bridesmaids made their way down the aisle in sweet cantaloupe coloured dresses from J.Crew and custom hair pieces by Etsy seller Sibo Designs. The “Spring Peaches” hair combs suited each of the girl’s hair styles in their own unique way. Our flower girl wore a yellow tutu adorned with a felt bumble bee hair clip from Sundro Clips, which was a cute added touch. Ross, in his grey J.Crew suit, waited with his groomsmen, each sporting a different pinwheel bouttoniere and creamsicle tie from seller Tux and Tulle.

My Watters gown was quite privileged, with a lovely yellow hanger made by seller KnickNack PaddyWack. The dress was demure, yet made a statement, and paired nicely with my "Michelle" blusher veil from seller LoBoheme.

Friends and family were treated to a performance by my friend Jennifer as she interpreted the poem “My Honey Bee” by Ben Youngblood to the song Claire de Lune on the harp. Her hand-painted dress matched beautifully. We enjoyed champagne kisses after the ceremony on the patio as we watched two baby cubs play across the lake. After, we made our way around the lodge property in our wellingtons for photographs using our rustic wooden “Love Shack” and “What Happens at the Lake Stays at the Lake” signs as props. Each sign was created by seller Go Jump In The Lake.

Guests enjoyed a fun photobooth courtesy of Orange Girl Photographs during cocktail hour while they sipped on "Bee's Knees" cocktails.They then entered the cathedral ceiling venue that was dressed with brightly coloured poms suspended above them (also by Pom Love). They picked up their honey dipper "escort card" which indicated their table number.

Vintage milk glass bud vases, planters and compote dishes were used for arrangements around the room and were purchased from Adventures in Vintage. To dress the tables, we had table numbers printed from One Reverie, Alençon lace tablecloths, groupings of blossoms in milk glass, and dressed up jars of local honey that I charmed with brass bees from Whistful Supplies.

Our sweetheart table, overlooking Emerald Lake, was the perfect setting for romantic kisses during dinner and lots of laughs during all of the touching speeches. We dressed it up with an XOXO Glittered Burlap Banner by seller Funky Shique.

Our cake topper towered above our cupcakes proudly and was such a beloved item at our reception. Etsy seller Together Forever worked with us to design a one-of-a-kind piece that matched both our theme and our personalities perfectly. This topper will be something we cherish for generations. The gift of personalized stationery was the quintessential gift for wedding companions to keep in touch after our nuptials and was purchased from seller Silhouette Blue.

We danced the night away and ran off into the moonlight at midnight, guided by a sparkler send off up to our cabin. It was a perfect end to a perfect day in the lovely mountain air.
